International Baccalaureate Program Information Night - Thursday, January 4th, 6:30 - 8 pm

Is your student a deep thinker? Are they interested in learning deep conceptual knowledge and the ways to apply that knowledge to the world around them? Are they interested in understanding their individual place in an increasingly complex world? If so, I would like to introduce the International Baccalaureate program as potentially strong fit for their learning goals. The IB Diploma program is a two-year education program for juniors and seniors designed around a comprehensive, holistic approach to teaching and learning that challenges students think critically, creatively and act ethically. DPHS currently offers one or two year IB course options in English Literature, Spanish, French, Latin, Twentieth Century International History, History of the Americas, Biology, Environmental Science, Mathematics and Visual Arts. Additionally, the full Diploma program challenges students to develop themselves as thinkers through an Epistemology based class called Theory of Knowledge, an individualize service program of Creativity, Activity and Service, and finally, IB is only pre university program that requires completion of significant research with the Extended Essay, a four thousand word research paper based on a topic of student choice.

The IB Diploma Program aims to fulfill the IB mission of developing students who are internationally minded, who understand their role as global citizens and shared guardianship of our planet and resources.

I would like to invite you and your current students to our 2018 IB informational night on Thursday January 4, 6:30-8:00 pm in the DPHS Library.

As your students are planning for the 2018-19 school year, I would love to talk to them about the educational and personal options available through the IB program. Please feel free to email me at and visit our website at for more information.

Thank you for your time and consideration of the educational options available in the International Baccalaureate program.
