Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
Under Title 20 U.S.C. §1412, a free appropriate public education is available to all eligible children with disabilities. The rights and protections of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act are extended to all eligible children. Eligible children are entitled to an education program and related services as designated in each child's individualized education program (IEP) at no cost to the parent. In order to be eligible, a child must be evaluated in conformance with 34 Code of Federal Regulations Sections 300.530-.534 as having one or more specified physical or mental impairments, and must be found to require special education and related services by reason of one or more of such impairments.
